Microsoft will begin deprecating Basic Authentication.
Although Microsoft has moved their deprecation date from October to December, we still encourage all Tigerpaw users impacted to make necessary changes now to avoid future service disruptions. Tigerpaw is providing an interim solution for the existing Exchange Integrator to ensure your team does not experience service disruptions. As previously announced, we will be releasing an entirely new version of the Exchange Integrator. However, the new Exchange Integrator will not be available until the Tigerpaw 22.4 upgrade, which will be released in November.
To take full advantage of this date extension, please follow the instructions HERE.
What is Basic Authentication and why is being it discontinued?
Basic authentication relies on user name and password to determine if a user or application should be granted access. The new method, called modern authentication or Oauth 2.0, utilizes tokens and is far more effective at reducing security risks. Oauth tokens enforce credential expiration dates and give administrators greater control over exactly which users or applications may log in, as well as what features or information each user or application can access.
